Testing Strength
Strength is the ability to carry out work against a resistance.
This is most evident in using weights and weight training, and can
be easily measured by recording a persons ability to exercise with
increasing weights.
To determine your current level of strength, carry out the one
repetition maximum test. This is a measure of the maximal force
that a person can lift with one repetition. The specific test is
to do one repetition max on the bench press. In this, the subject
lies on a bench and lifts the heaviest possible weight that they
can only do once. This test will give a good indication of upper
body strength. |
